What Can Stop Them?

According to Iranian deputy nuclear chief Mohammad Ahmadian, the sole reactor at the country’s Bushehr nuclear power plant has now reached full capacity of 1,000 megawatts last Friday evening. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pressed into world powers this past Sunday to set a “clear red line” for Tehran’s atomic program that would convince Iran they were determined to prevent it from obtaining nuclear arms.

The United States is considered Israel’s main ally, but Netanyahu’s comments suggest a growing impatience with the U.S. as our leaders have been standing firm that he should give diplomacy and sanctions more time to work and to hold off on any strike on Iran.

There is growing speculation that Israel may attack Iran before the U.S. elections in November. Netanyahu has told the U.S. leaders that “time has run out.” He has previously been saying “time is running out.” This is the first time I recall him saying that “time has run out.” When US Ambassador’s Dan Shapiro reminded Netanyahu that President Obama had vowed not to let Iran acquire weapons of mass destruction, Netanyahu replied: “Instead of effectively pressuring Iran, Obama and his people are pressuring us {Israel} not to attack.

"I believe the truth must be stated: The international community is not placing a clear red line for Iran and Iran does not see international resolve to stop its nuclear programme," Netanyahu told his cabinet.

"Unless Iran sees this clear red line and this clear resolve it will not stop moving forward with its nuclear programme, and Iran must not have nuclear weapons," he said, repeating his view that sanctions so far have not curbed Tehran's atomic ambitions.

Obama has clearly stated that he is dead set against any military hit on Iran, especially one carried out unilaterally by Israel, at least until after the elections. General Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said that a “premature” strike would undo sanctions. The problem is, sanctions don’t seem to be working anyway as affirmed yet one more time with the announcement this week that Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant has now reached full capacity. Netanyahu is in a tough spot. To attack Iran likely won’t destroy Iran’s nuclear program. If he moves forward with an attack, without Washington’s support, will jeopardize Israel’s relationship with their one ally. On the other hand, letting Iran proceed as they are now, puts Israel at great risk, especially when their leaders have taught their people to chant “Death to Israel.”

We have an obligation to pray for Israel. It is the only nation for which the Holy Scriptures command us to pray. Netanyahu needs your prayer support for wisdom as he is committed to protecting his people. God has stated that He wants this nation protected as He has a plan to fulfill through this people and this land.
